To provide life skills counseling and program supervision to adult offenders in a correctional program; to screen offenders for admission to the program and orient newly admitted offenders; to conduct needs assessments and develop case plans; to maintain caseload records of offenders and monitor their probation compliance while in the program.

Must pass a Non-DOT drug screen test and a Law Enforcement Criminal Background check, no felony convictions in order to be eligible for employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

01 Provide life skills counseling and program supervision for adult offenders in a correctional program; provide individual and group counseling such as the Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT) and Relapse Prevention programs, and maintain written reports on their progress. Maintain control and discipline within the treatment program.

02 Conduct needs assessments on all offenders that are seeking counseling. Formulate treatment relapse and prevention plans; work with offenders to establish personal goals and objectives.

03 Conduct intake interviews for the MRT program and other cognitive programming and orient incoming offenders to the program informing them about rules, policies, operations and the disciplinary process.

04 Provide crisis counseling to offenders; refer offenders to available community resources, such as Mental Health, Senior and Disability Services, and residential treatment as needed. 

05 Maintain complete case files including interviews, assessments, services and probation progress; prepare case records in accordance with state and county regulations.

06 Create various forms to help with tracking completion of treatment and non-compliance of Offenders.

07 Assist offenders in finding and maintaining employment; counsel offenders in the development of good work habits and accomplishing goals, monitoring places of employment  

08 Assist indigent offenders with accessing financial resources for release from treatment program.

09 Attend periodic staff meeting, professional association conferences and training programs; speak at schools and civic organizations. 

10 Search offenders before they enter facility; collect and maintain urine samples as needed. 

11 Monitor offenders that have been referred to day reporting for compliance, a written report and non-compliance notice is given to Probation Officer if offender stops reporting. 

12 Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

01 Oregon Driver's License

02 First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification 

03 Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Level I Certification (Able to obtain within one year from date of hire).

Work schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
