Performs trade maintenance work on buildings, surrounding grounds and equipment; operates light and/or medium equipment used in maintenance; performs corrective and preventative maintenance repairs and adjustments to County facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

01 Operates light and/or medium equipment used in maintenance; such as, power saws, drills, table saws, edgers, roto hammers, tractors, bucket trucks, etc.

02 Performs maintenance, repairs and adjustments to County facilities; such as, changing filters and replacing pumps, bearing assemblies, belts, bearings and motors in heating and air conditioning units.

03 Performs maintenance on electrical and plumbing fixtures; such as, replacing light bulbs, ballasts, changing light fixtures, outlets and switches; repairs and replaces sinks, water closets, showers, unclogging stopped drains and pipes, etc.

04 Maintains cooling towers by greasing bearings, adding chemicals, taking readings, etc.

05 Maintains county facilities in a clean, safe working order. Observes and reports any knowledge of safety or building code violations to the Maintenance Lead Worker or Director. 

06 Paints county facilities; such as, office areas and building exteriors, which includes preparation and clean up.

07 Maintains building security by locking and unlocking facilities and turning lights on and off.

08 Performs moving and relocation services of personnel and equipment as needed.

09 Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and maintains the records relating to this maintenance.

10 Performs emergency repairs when called in as needed.

11 Performs minor repairs to roofs and sidings of buildings; performs maintenance and minor repair and adjustments to all operating equipment and tools.

12 Performs grounds maintenance such as mowing lawns, edge trimming, weeding, watering, applying chemicals, and various other landscaping projects; operates truck, tractor or hand shovel to remove snow from sidewalks, bike paths and parking lots; applies ice-melt to sidewalks when required.

13 Performs other maintenance duties such as, but not limited to moving furniture and hanging pictures.

Education and/or Experience

Work in jobs having similar duties; experience in building maintenance including knowledge of mechanical repair practices; knowledge of safety precautions in performing duties; skills in the use of a variety of hand and small power tools.

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management.
