Summary

Supervises the road crews in the maintenance and construction of county roads, bridges, drainage ditches, etc. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

01 Meets with the Road Superintendent to receive work assignments; provides recommendations for assembling job crews; directs the work of the crew's activities at work sites, which may include asphalt overlays, new construction, bridges, patching, ditch maintenance, brush cutting, chip sealing, and paint crew.

02 Reads and executes blueprints on construction work; estimates personnel, equipment and supplies needed to complete assigned projects.

03 Inspects county roads to evaluate potential problems; makes recommendations for correction of problems.

04 Checks crews time cards and computer printouts for accuracy.

 05 Advises management of potential problems or safety concerns; makes recommendations for improving procedures and operations of the Road Department.

Education and/or Experience

Experience in road construction and maintenance work which involves the ability to supervise; knowledge of road and bridge maintenance; methods, techniques and materials required for roadway, roadside, bridge and drainage construction and maintenance operations.

01 Valid Oregon Driver License

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
