Summary                                                                                                                                          

The Regional Health Equity Program Coordinator plays a vital role in engaging people from diverse backgrounds and in coordinating the efforts of the Klamath Regional Health Equity Coalition (KRHEC). You will work with the Coalition and with individuals and agencies to ensure that health equity issues are identified and health equity strategies are implemented in the county. You will work closely with the Coalition members, serving as a facilitator to help them achieve effective communication, engagement, and decision-making. You will provide leadership in Coalition strategic planning, to prioritize policy and systems level changes to promote equity. You will serve as the primary capacity builder for the Klamath Regional Health Equity Coalition activities, membership, and partnerships.

This position requires the ability to facilitate and understand complex diversity and equity conversations. You will effectively build rapport with communities of color and other priority populations, and build strong relationships with diverse individuals and organizations. You will be committed to equity, community-based projects, and community-led initiatives.

This is a grant funded position that ends June 30, 2018. There is a possibility of the position being extended depending on additional grant funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

01 Understand health equity, health disparities, and the social determinants of health.

02 Proficient interpersonal and group facilitation skills.

03 Experience with public speaking and leading groups.

04 Ensure that frequent, effective and efficient communication takes place with Coalition members.

05 Coordinate and manage logistics for meetings and trainings.

06 Able to think strategically, develop and implement effective work plans.

07 Possess strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, have great attention to detail and excellent follow through.

08 Excellent written and oral communication skills.

09 Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

10 Able to work as a part of a team and to respond to feedback and supervision.

11 Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and social media.

12 Spanish and English bilingual preferred.

13 Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Degree from an accredited college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

01 Current Oregon Driver License

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. This position may require evening or weekend work.

It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. 

Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.

Availability for public health emergencies. "The Public Health Employee may be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to his/her position, or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position.  This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency."
