The Investigator will conduct follow-up investigations on criminal cases prosecuted by the District Attorney's office and assist Deputy District Attorneys in preparing cases for trial. The Investigator will perform any other investigate work as assigned by the District Attorney. The Investigator shall serve at the direction and discretion of the District Attorney.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

01 Conducts original in-depth investigations as directed by the District Attorney.

02 Conducts follow-up interviews with witnesses to crimes.

03 Gathers physical evidence in preparation for trial.

04 Prepares written reports detailing the follow-up or original investigation done by the Investigator. Testifies at Grand Jury or in court as needed.

05 Locates missing witnesses or suspects, and serves subpoenas on last minute witnesses.

06 Helps prepare witnesses for testimony.

07 Acts as liaison between local law enforcement and the District Attorney's office. Helps maintain chain of custody for physical evidence.

08 Assists in transporting victim's witnesses if Victim's Services Coordinator is unable to do so.

09 Demonstrates the conduct and behavior of a team player by helping create a professional and rewarding work environment for all District Attorney Employees.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

01 Current Oregon Driver License

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work.  Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.  Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
