Conduct inspections and plan reviews on commercial work to ensure compliance with the Electrical Code. Performs inspections of building and structures of all complexities in order to ascertain that the Electrical Codes and any other certified disciplines be enforced in accordance with the State of Oregon Codes and County Ordinances. Must pass a Non-DOT drug screen test, and fit for duty physical to be eligible for employment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.  

01 Conducts plans reviews and field inspections of buildings and structures as they apply to the National Electrical Code, and or any other related Oregon Electrical and Residential Specialty Codes and as adopted by County Ordinance.  

02 Recommends or takes appropriate action to ensure compliance of Electrical, and other specialty code installations with plans and applicable codes.  

03 Consults with and advises contractors and builders regarding applicable regulations.  

04 Performs field checks of code installations.  

05 Assists other departments, contractors and builders regarding applicable regulations.  

06 Interprets code requirements; investigates violations and takes appropriate action.  

07 Answers code related questions and assists the public at the counter.

Education and/or Experience

In-state (Industry Experience): You must have an Oregon General Journeyman license and 4 years' experience, or 2 years' experience and pass the 12 week state practicum class. Out-of-State (Inspection Experience): You must have 10 years inspection experience with a national certification (5 years must be commercial). Out-of-State (Industry Experience): You must have a General Journeyman license from a qualifying state and 4 years' experience (must be commercial). The above experience is waived if you have a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering with 2 years of experience in design, inspection, or supervision of installations covered by NEC or OESC, or you are a certified professional electrical engineer.

01 Current Driver's License 

02 Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) 

03 Oregon State Certification (A-Level) (EI) Electrical Specialty Code Inspector.

Work Schedule

The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.
